Fall has always been my favorite season and even though it still feels like summer in Florida, September is a week away, so fall is on its way. First things first, baking!
This recipe is not only delicious, and pretty easy to make, but it will warm your home with all those wonderful flavors of fall.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 large granny smith apple peeled and chopped
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, add shortening, sugar, and brown sugar. Mix on high until clumpy. Then beat in egg and vanilla until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Then slowly add to mixing bowl until well blended. Stir in apple chunks.
- On a greased baking pan add rounded tablespoons of dough about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for about 5-10 minutes.
- Enjoy!
I sure hope you enjoy these cookies as much as I did. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
