This adventure was a little less strenuous than most of my weekend trips around Florida but no less fun. Oak Haven Farms provides a relaxing atmosphere and absolutely beautiful scenery. The perfect setting for strawberry picking.
It was my first time picking strawberries and such a great weekend activity close to Orlando. The farm was not overly crowded which is something I tend to worry about whenever we do something in or around the Central Florida area. It’s the Disney Passholder in me, I guess. Several families were picking strawberries and taking photos, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Another plus, parking is free. After finding a spot, we made our way to the fields where we were assigned a row where the fruit was ready to be picked.
Pick as many strawberries you like for $3.25 a pound. The barn also offers pre-picked fruit for $3.75 a pound.
The excitement definitely took over and we picked quite a few pounds. I’ll be eating strawberries non-stop for the next week, but that’s okay because they are absolutely delicious and so sweet.
After we finished picking we made our way to the barn where we paid and enjoyed some strawberry shortcake under a beautiful oak tree. The little country store also offers jellies, spreads, wines, and other souvenirs.
Oak Haven Farms is about 30 minutes from Orlando. Picking days are generally Fridays from 12 pm – 5 pm, Saturdays from 9 am -5 pm and Sundays 11 am – 5 pm but be sure to call the hotline (352) 735-1996 to make sure the hours have not changed. Have fun!
